Watchtower is also called as "Qiong" in Qiang language. It is build for defensive purposes and also used as beacon or the storage for food and firewood. The watchtower is exact replica of the traditional architecture of Mao county, Wenchuan region of Sichuan province. It is conical shaped with hexagonal base. The building is 15 meters high and 4 meters in diameter. It is timber-stone structured with three storeys. There are watching holes on the outer walls with wide opening outside and narrow inside. There is a rope bridge connecting the watchtower with blockhouses.
