The Oroqen museum is the exact replica of traditional dwellings in Daxinganling area, Heilongjiang Province. The building components were built by local craftsmen with local materials and transported to Beijing for completion. The construction work was finished in 1993 and the museam was open to the public in June 1994.
Their habitat comprise roe skin tepee, birch bark tepee, the store house on stilts, reindeer pen, birch tree boat and wooden idol. The site was arranged in the form of original roost in mountainous forest. The museum covers a ground area of 800 square meters and the building area is 77.7 square meters.
The exhibits of the museum are all arranged in their original settings. They are collected from Daxinganling area, Heilongjiang Province. They cover a history of Qing Dynasty (1616-1911) to modern times, about 300 years.
