Buyei museum is the exact replica of traditional Buyei residential house in Anshun area, Guizhou Province. The building components were made by local craftsmen and transported to Beijing for completion. All materials, including the slabstone, are transported from Guizhou Province to Beijing. The museum commenced construction in 1993 and was open to the public in June 1994. The museum covers a land area of 5,775 square meters and floor area of 1,421 square meters.
This museum is designed as a traditional market street that comprises dozens of stone houses. The function of the houses including village gate, living quarters, blockhouse, the frame for lection streamers, the temple for the gnome, rest shed, pharmacy, wax dying house, grocery store, pub, restaurant and etc.
